Basin Installation in Cheshire

Bathroom Fixtures

Fitting a bathroom basin involves the same care as any other sanitaryware, getting the supply and waste connections right and making sure the basin is properly supported, particularly for wall hung designs that carry their full weight on brackets rather than a pedestal, where the quality of the fixing matters far more than people often realise.

Basin types we install

  • Pedestal basins, supported by the pedestal beneath, which carries most of the weight and reduces the strain on the wall fixing
  • Wall hung basins, which need a properly fitted bracket secured into solid wall or noggins behind plasterboard
  • Countertop and vessel basins, sitting on or above a vanity unit, which need the correct waste position cut into the worktop
  • Semi-recessed basins set into a vanity top, which sit partway into the cabinet rather than fully on top of it

What's included

  • Fitting and securing the basin, with wall hung basins checked for adequate wall support before fixing anything
  • Connecting hot and cold supply, fitting isolation valves if not already present so future maintenance is straightforward
  • Connecting the waste and trap, sealed properly to avoid leaks at the connection points
  • Testing taps and waste under pressure before finishing the job

Why wall hung basins need proper backing

Wall hung basins fitted to plasterboard walls without solid backing behind them are one of the more common issues we get called out to fix in older bathroom installations, since the basin eventually works loose under repeated use as people lean on it or use it to steady themselves. We make sure there's proper support fitted from the start, usually a timber noggin or a dedicated basin bracket designed to spread the load into the wall structure properly rather than just relying on plasterboard fixings alone.

Coordinating with renovation work

If you're having a full bathroom renovated, basin position sometimes needs to be agreed before tiling starts, particularly for wall hung designs where the bracket needs to be fitted and the wall finished around it. We'll coordinate timing with your tiler so the basin goes in at the right stage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Often yes, if the issue is the wall fixing rather than the basin itself. We can add proper support behind the wall if it wasn't fitted correctly originally.
