What's included

• Removing the old bath and checking the floor and surrounding structure for any damage or weakness underneath
• Fitting the new bath with proper support, levelled correctly across its full length
• Connecting hot and cold supply pipework and the waste and overflow correctly
• Sealing around the edges to prevent water getting behind the bath panel or into the floor below
• Full pressure test of taps and waste before we finish, checking for any leaks under realistic use conditions

Freestanding baths and floor loading

Freestanding baths have become a popular choice in bathroom renovations across Wilmslow and Alderley Edge, and they need particular attention to floor loading and pipe routing since the supply often comes up through the floor rather than from the wall. A filled freestanding bath, especially the larger cast iron or stone resin styles, can weigh considerably more than a standard built-in bath, and we'll check your floor structure can take this safely, particularly on upper floors of older properties.

Why this matters more on upper floors

Older Cheshire properties, particularly period homes around Chester and Nantwich, sometimes have floor joists that weren't designed with modern bath loads in mind. We don't assume a floor can simply take whatever's put on it. If reinforcement is needed before a freestanding bath can go in safely, we'll flag this at the quote stage rather than discovering it part way through the job.
