Toilet Installation and Replacement in Cheshire
Whether you're replacing an old toilet that's seen better days or fitting a new one as part of a bathroom refit, getting the installation right the first time matters more with toilets than almost any other fixture. A poorly sealed toilet can leak quietly for months before you notice water damage to the floor underneath, often only discovered when the ceiling below starts showing signs of staining.
Toilet types we install
- Close coupled toilets, where the cistern is fixed directly to the pan
- Back to wall toilets with a concealed or exposed cistern
- Wall hung toilets, which need additional support framework built into the wall or stud partition
- Low level and high level cistern toilets, common in older and period properties where the original design is being retained
What's included
- Removing the old toilet and disconnecting the water supply and waste safely
- Checking the soil pipe connection and waste outlet position before fitting anything new
- Fitting the new pan and cistern, ensuring a watertight seal at both the floor and waste connection
- Connecting and testing the water supply, including fitting a new isolation valve if the old one is worn or seized from age
- Full flush test before we leave, checking both the seal and the flush performance itself
Period properties and non-standard layouts
Period properties around Chester, Nantwich, and Knutsford sometimes have non-standard waste outlet positions that don't line up with modern toilet designs, since plumbing standards have changed considerably over the decades. We check this before quoting, since it can affect what type of toilet will actually fit your existing waste pipe layout, and in some cases we'll need to use an offset pan or adapted pipework to make a modern toilet work with an older waste position.
Choosing between toilet types
Wall hung toilets give a cleaner look and are easier to clean around, but they need a supporting frame fitted within the wall, which adds cost and complexity compared to a standard floor-mounted toilet. We'll talk through the practical trade-offs for your specific bathroom rather than just fitting whatever looks best in a showroom.
